U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree and her daughter, Maine Speaker of the House, Rep. Hannah Pingree will discuss current issues in both the U.S. Congress and State Legislature and the impact to Mainers. They will also discuss their unique roles in leadership for Maine and how their relationship has shaped their identity and career in politics.
Lunch & Learn, March 17th
Portland voters have authorized a Charter Commission for the first time since 1986. The Commission has discussed numerous issues, the most high-profile of which is the “elected mayor.” The Chamber formed its own task force on the subject and last year it issued a report recommending an elected mayor with limited executive powers. As the Charter Commission nears its completion date, this Lunch and Learn will explore the mayor issue in preparation for what promises to be a spirited Portland ballot question.
