Each September our committees begin their annual program of work.
Regional committee service is open to all members , from all chambers,
and is a great way to help shape Chamber programs and policies,
while learning leadership skills. Most committees meet once per
month. Committee Members are expected to be regular attendees. All
Committees report to the CEO and/or the Board, and all are charged
with being a resource to staff and the Board in fulfilling the mission
of the Chambers. To join a committee, contact the staff liaison.
Health Policy Committee:
This committee is empowered to take positions on issues of state
and federal health policy, for the Chamber to advocate. Such positions
require sign off by the Regional Board Chair and the Chamber's CEO,
and 24 hour ratification by the Board. This Committee reviews State
health policy, legislative proposals, and works to improve Maine
's health care system to encourage job growth and bolster our economic
environment.

Taxation Committee:
This Committee meets as needed to review State and local tax (and
spending) policies, legislative and local taxation issues, and works
to improve Maine 's economy and job opportunities. This committee
is empowered to take positions on issues of state and federal taxation,
for the Chamber to advocate. Such positions require sign off by
the Regional Board Chair and the Chamber's CEO, and 24 hour ratification
by the Board.

Ambassadors:
Members are active in connecting with and involving newer members
and recruiting new members. Great networking opportunity. Host at
events, free tickets, recognition for best ambassadors, and a bonus
to the most productive ambassador. Meets 1st Friday of the month
at 7:30 a.m. , Sept. to June.

Public Policy Committee:
Responsible for educating members on key legislative issues. Alerts
members to crucial legislative issues, and promotes member testimony.
Has been active in monitoring and lobbying efforts on: Taxes; Health
Care, Workers' Compensation. Surveys membership on concerns, and
recommends policy actions to the Board. Plans and executes legislative
connections and meetings.

Communications Committee:
Comprised primarily of communications professionals, and other interested
members, this Committee guides the Chamber efforts to communicate
effectively with the members and the community. The committee also
works with our local chambers to educate members on effective communication
and marketing strategies. Meets 3rd Friday of the month at 7:30
a.m. , Sept. to June.

Eggs & Issues:
Meetings are held the 2nd Wednesday of each month, except July and
August, from 8:00 - 9:00 a.m. at the Chamber to schedule and organize
one of the most popular Chamber events. The morning breakfast is
held on the first Wednesday of the month (unless otherwise noted)
except July and August. Community Corner serves as a bridge to the
non-profit community. Each month prior to the Eggs & Issues
breakfast, one non-profit organization will be given a table in
the lobby of the Holiday Inn By the Bay to promote its cause and
interact with the business community.

Business After Hours Committee:
Plans and executes Business After Hours events. Strives to improve
attendance and quality of Business After Hours. Meets the 2nd Tuesday
of the month at 4:00 p.m. , Sept. to June.

Golf & Tennis:
Responsible for our annual fundraiser. Committee members plan the
event, solicit sponsorships and participants, and gather raffle
prizes. Meets as needed in Spring to plan Summer tournament.
