Monthly Policy Update

New estimates from the Federal Reserve project a national unemployment rate of more than 9% for the rest of this year, falling to only about 8.5% by the end of 2011.  Maine’s unemployment rate stood at 8.3% in December, 1.4% lower than the national average, but still painfully high, with much higher rates in northern, eastern and western parts of the state. The Chamber’s 156th Annual Dinner and Community Leadership Awards will take place on September 16th, 2010 at the Holiday Inn by the Bay.
