100 Things To Do In Scarborough
The Town of Scarborough, the Scarborough Community Chamber and SEDCO are putting together a list of 100 Things to Do in Scarborough and we could use your help.  Is it going for a ride at Maine Indoor Karting, maybe going hermit crab hunting at Ferry Beach, geocaching or surfing at Higgins Beach?  This town offers so much and we want to capture it.  Once completed, we'll share with all!  Currently, the Scarborough Public Library has a display where you can write down your thoughts, or you can email Karen at SEDCO at kmartin@sedcomaine.com or post on their facebook page.

Scarborough Education Foundation
The newly formed Scarborough Education Foundation's mission is to enhance academic excellence in the Scarborough Public Schools by funding innovative and creative educational programs and initiatives that fall outside traditional school budget considerations.  The SCC supports this new foundation!

Town of Scarborough’s Preparedness Project
With support from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security through the Maine Emergency Management Agency, the Town of Scarborough, is undertaking the ambitious project of building and maintaining the resilience of its citizens.

There will be a train-the-trainer program for the employees and citizens of Scarborough.  This program seeks to develop and train individuals and groups in skills of personal preparedness and resiliency that will enable them to respond to natural or manmade disasters, traumatic events, and other adversarial situations.

Resilience is the process of coping with and managing tragedy and crisis.  It is "bouncing back" from hard times, whether these are national disasters, such as the current financial crisis, a hurricane, or a terrorist attack or personal disasters such as bankruptcy, divorce or the death of a loved one.  We know, through research, that the skills and attitudes of resilience and mental toughness can be learned and applied and can assist individuals in adapting to and surviving difficult times.

To learn more about this important project, please contact Nancy Crowell by clicking here.

Scarborough Farmer’s Market
The 2012 Scarborough Farmers'  Market will run every Sunday, June through October from 9am to 1pm in the Town Hall parking lot.  Fresh breads, vegetables, meats, seafood, hand-picked berries, teas, jewelry and more!
