The Bulldog block, which is run through Jobs for Maine’s Graduates (JMG) program, exposes students to relevant and interesting topics of their choosing via volunteer presenters from Portland’s business community.
Chris Hall, Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce CEO said the Bulldog Block is a valuable tool to reach Portland’s next workforce.
“The Portland Chamber has a long relationship with Portland schools, including our on-going support for ‘Principal for a Day,’ a week each spring when we place 17 CEOs with 17 school principals to create new partnerships and unlock creative innovations that unite the public and private sectors,” he said.
“The Bulldog Block is another exciting opportunity for employers to connect with Portland’s students in ways that help young people succeed today, and help employers build their workforce for tomorrow. I’m fully supportive of this new initiative, and I hope you’ll take the time to learn more and get engaged.”
Previous examples of Bulldog Block presentations have included topics such as financial literacy, student leadership opportunities, social media etiquette, resume writing and interviewing skills.
