Shareholder Elected by Peers to Firm Leadership Portland and Augusta, ME and Manchester, NH (January, 2020) – Bernstein Shur, a leading New England law firm, announced that Hawley Strait has been elected by his colleagues to serve as a member of the firm’s Board of Directors. He joins other board members D. Sam Anderson, Kevan Lee Deckelmann, Robert J. Keach, Katherine R. Knox, Ovide Lamontagne and CEO Joan Fortin. Strait, a shareholder based in the firm’s Portland office, is a member of the Real Estate Practice Group and represents real estate developers, banks, landlords and tenants in a wide variety of commercial and residential projects, involving mixed-use development, acquisitions, sales, financing, leasing, and construction. He regularly handles transactions involving restaurants and hotels, national retail chains, and large shopping and lifestyle centers. He also assists energy company clients with real estate matters, including leasing, site control and development.
Strait is an active member of the American Bar Association, the International Council of Shopping Centers, and the Maine and Massachusetts Bar Associations as well as the Maine Real Estate Development Association. His practice excellence has been recognized by Chambers USA™ and he is rated AV-Preeminent® by Martindale-Hubbell. He resides in Yarmouth, Maine with his wife and two sons.
