A volunteer committee of Cumberland County residents and community leaders reviews proposals and makes recommendations for funding. The deadline for applying is February 15, 2020. Application, guidelines, and a list of 2019 grants are available at www.mainecf.org.

In 2019, the Cumberland County Committee awarded $65,600 in grants to 10 nonprofits, including:

  • Little Sebago Lake Association, to develop a Little Sebago Loon Monitoring Program to study and document loon behaviors, engage and encourage citizen science participation, and implement sustainable conservation actions
  • Maine Youth Court, to design and undertake a Culture and Language Justice Initiative to ensure Maine Youth Court’s restorative justice, youth-led diversion program is culturally-responsive and linguistically-relevant
  • Maine-Wabanaki REACH, for a Southern Maine Wabanaki Wellness Gathering to reclaim community by providing safe spaces for learning, sharing, connecting, and networking.
The Cumberland County Fund was established in 2005 with the support of several MaineCF donors. The fund provides grant support to nonprofits engaged in community-building projects in the region. If you would like more information about the fund, please contact Director of Grantmaking Laura Lee at 1-877-700-6800 or [email protected].
Headquartered in Ellsworth, with additional personnel in Portland, Dover-Foxcroft, and Mars Hill, the Maine Community Foundation works with donors and other partners to provide strong investments, personalized service, local expertise, and strategic giving to improve the quality of life for all Maine people.
