Portland/Bangor, Maine -- On a chilly December 7, Mainers showed up with carloads of toys and coats to donate to Coats and Toys for Kids Day – an annual event sponsored by NEWS CENTER Maine. More than 3,000 new and gently used coats and more than 5,000 new toys were collected for distribution along with $2,460 in donations. When the single day event is combined with the month-long Coats and Toys for Kids campaign, the overall total collected was an estimated 17,825 coats and 7,100 toys.
