Union, Maine, September 7, 2020 – Sweetgrass Farm Winery & Distillery has just released Maine Cranberry Apple Hard Cider. Hard Cider is having resurgence in popularity as a drink that both wine and beer enthusiasts enjoy. We’ve been producing hard apple cider for 4 years now, had an abundance of quality Maine cranberries, and just had to give it a try. Maine cranberries and apples work well together, fresh and tart. We started with a mix of local apples in old-time varieties from several Midcoast orchards and a few from our own farm: Stark, Wolfe River, Golden Russets, Northern Spy, Golden Delicious, Tolman Sweets, Macoun, Spartan, Empire and Baldwin then added cranberries. Sweetgrass Maine Cranberry Apple Hard Cider is dry, bottle conditioned (where the secondary fermentation is done in the bottle like champagne), has an apple nose, champagne body, and a delicious tart finish. Sweetgrass Maine Cranberry Apple Hard Cider is available at the winery in Union, and their tasting rooms and shop in Portland’s Old Port and in Kennebunk on Maine Art Hill.
